Refund Policy
Refund conditions for membership and points orders; benefits are non-cashable; refunds for recharges will deduct points.
What this guide covers
This guide explains under what circumstances orders involving real money are eligible for refunds, and how points, membership, and benefits are handled after a refund.
Specific cases are subject to the App order status, customer service responses, and the latest service terms; this article is a description of product behavior.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, but with conditions — Not all orders are eligible for refunds at all times. Generally, the following conditions must be met:
- Compliance with the terms of service and refund policy displayed at the time of purchase;
- Request must be made through official channels (order page, customer service);
- No violations of rules regarding abuse, fraud, etc.
If you have any questions, please contact customer service and provide your order number and payment time.
Settlement and Yen Display {#settlement-and-yen-display}
DodoAI settles payments and refunds in USD via Stripe, which is a separate concept from the common "yen pricing" familiar to Japanese users:
| Actual Settlement | Yen in App / Messages | |
|---|---|---|
| Payment | Charged in USD (total due on the checkout page is "Total Amount (USD Settlement)") | Yen in regional catalog prices and summaries is for reference display |
| Refund | Initiate a USD refund with Stripe (calculated based on order and rules) | {refundYen} in notifications is the reference amount in yen converted according to the system's exchange rate |
Therefore, when the refund message states "Refund of {refundYen} yen," it indicates the converted amount for your reference, not a separate cash channel independent of USD. The actual amount credited to your card is determined by Stripe + your card issuer, and may differ slightly from the reference yen amount due to exchange rates and fees.
Same rule on the payment side → Payment and Refund Overview · Settlement Currency.
Points Recharge Refund
After a points order refund, the system generally:
- Processes USD refund through Stripe according to the rules; the returned yen amount (
refundYen) in app messages is the display value converted at the system exchange rate; - Deducts already issued points from the account (transaction reason may show "Recharge refund deduct points");
- Changes the order status to Refunded;
- You may receive an app message: "Recharge refund and points adjustment", indicating the reference refunded yen and the number of points deducted.
Points cannot be converted into cash for active withdrawal; refunds are a reverse processing at the order level, not converting points into cash.
Membership Plan Refund
- Membership refunds are also settled in USD; the amounts in JPY on the bill or message are for reference conversion, and the rules are consistent with the previous section on Settlement and Yen Display.
- Membership billing records may include refund type entries.
- After a refund, the service period and tier will be adjusted according to policy (this may shorten or revert to a free tier).
- Unused bonus Benefits pack is generally not refunded as cash; see Benefits Usage Rules.
The account credit used during the upgrade will be applied to the next settlement and will be processed according to financial rules in the refund scenario, based on the settlement document.
